The Difference Between Vertical Machining Center And Horizontal Machining Center

Vertical
Vertical machining center refers to a machining center with a vertical spindle. Its structural form is mostly a fixed column, and the worktable is rectangular. It has no indexing rotation function and is suitable for processing discs, sleeves, and plate parts. It generally has three linear movements. coordinate axis, and a rotary table that rotates along the horizontal axis can be installed on the workbench to process spiral parts.
The vertical machining center is easy to install, easy to operate, easy to observe the processing situation, easy to debug the program, and is widely used. However, due to the limitation of the height of the column and the tool change device, parts that are too high cannot be processed. When processing the cavity or concave profile, the chips are not easily discharged. In severe cases, the tool will be damaged, the machined surface will be destroyed, and the smooth progress of the processing will be affected.

Horizontal
Horizontal machining center refers to a machining center with a horizontal spindle. It usually has an automatic indexing rotary table. It generally has 3 to 5 motion coordinates. The common ones are three linear motion coordinates plus one rotary motion coordinate. The workpiece After one installation, the processing of the remaining four surfaces except the mounting surface and top surface is completed. It is most suitable for adding box-like parts. Compared with vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers can easily remove chips during processing, which is beneficial to processing, but the structure is complex. The price is higher.
